First Presbyterian Church is known as the "Egg Church" in the community of Kernersville. Each year church and community volunteers work during the Lenten Season to produce thousands of Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter and Chocolate Covered Coconut Easter Eggs.

Through out the years, the revenues have helped the church build a new Fellowship Hall and improve the church property. But more importantly, we have always used a good portion of the proceeds to directly benefit the community of Kernersville. Last year alone $7,500 was donated to community organizations and ministries.

We also help needy families in the Kernersville area in other ways. Each November, we sell hand-made crafts and food items at our Holiday Market. In cooperation with the Kernersville Elementary School we are able to provide needed clothes, household goods and toys to families during Christmas and throughout the year. Last year we joined the local YMCA to purchase school clothes for children starting school in the Fall.

First Presbyterian Church is also known as a friendly and welcoming church. As a pastor, I have served several churches and visited many more. I can honestly say that I was impressed by how warmly this congregation welcomed me when I first visited. At the time, they had no idea that I might be their pastor. As a church, we have worked hard to improve our Christian Education program. In the last three years our Vacation Bible School attendance has increased dramatically. In 2006, we decided that one great week of Vacation Bible School each year was not enough. At the start of the school year we began our Mini VBS program. It is a once a month evening Bible School offered during the school year. This also has proven to be very successful. This Fall it is our plan to hire a Christian Education Director who will help us to improve and expand our educational program.
